One feature of android mobile that a millions of Android users still don't know is making a Wifi hotspot, or offering the internet connection from your smartphone to nearby devices. Many Android cell phones and tablets, beginning with Android Froyo version 2.2 might be usd as portable WiFi hotspots, giving you a chance to share your internet connection on your Android gadget wirelessly with up to 5 different devices, including other cellphones, tablets, and personal computers. Using your Android phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot is really simple. Steps To Use Android Mobile As Wi-Fi Hotspot

Step 1 - Go to the Settings on your Android phone. You can get there by pressing the Menu button on your device when you're on the home screen and then tapping "Settings".

Step 2 - At the Settings screen, search for Teathering And Portable Hotspot in Wireless And Network section. Position of Teathering And Portable Hotspot may vary from device to device. In my Samsung Galaxy S Duos it is located in More Settings option.

Step 3 - After finding, just click on Teathering And Portable Hotspot.

Step 4 - Now you'll see first option namely Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot. Tap the check mark alongside it to turn on the hotspot and your mobile phone will begin acting like a wireless access point. You should see a message in the notification bar when wifi hotspot is activated.

Step 5 - To should change the name of your WiFi hotspot so that you can easily find out your hotspot from other device. Select "Portable Wifi Hotspot" and click on "Configure". Change Network SSID to your desired name and press Save.

Step 6 - You can set a password to your hotspot to prevent unauthorized access to your data connection. Simply tap on "Portable Wifi Hotspot" and then select "Configure". A popup will apear on the screen. Select security option as WPA PSK and enter a new 8 digit password. Click "Save".

You can easily change the default password, security level settings, wifi router name (SSID), and also manage users connected wirelessly to your phone in the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings.


Find & Connect To Your New Wi-Fi Hotspot

Step 1 - Turn on the Wi-Fi from each of other devices you want to share Internet access to. Your PC, tablet, and other cell phones will notify you that there are new wifi networks to connect with. Alternately, search for new Wi-Fi hotspots. You will discover a hostspot that you recently created. 


Step 2 - Finally, tap on your hotspot to create the connection by entering the password you created above.


Useful Tips and Considerations

1 - Make sure to turn off the Wi-Fi hotspot feature when you don't need shared Internet access from other devices, Since this can empty your phone battery.

2 - As default, the portable Wi-Fi hotspot is most likely be set up with OPEN security setting which mean without password. If you're using your WiFi connect within an open place, it is possible to other unknown persons to connect to your internet without your permission. So it is best to change the setting to WPA PSK and set up a password for your hotspot.
